September 2014

By Taylor Rawls
Norfolk is once again hosting The All-American Virginia Bacon Festival on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 12 to 5 p.m.! There will be bacon-themed dishes, live music, competitions, cooking demonstrations, bacon beverages, and even a kid’s area. This event will be fun for the whole family.
There will be performances by The Fighting Jamesons, an Irish rock band that released their first album in November of 2011, and The Killroos, along with other unannounced special guests. Some of the partners this year include eat the streets, Cotton, bite, Belmont, The Bacon Jams, Twisted Sister Cupcakes, and Bad Pickle Tees. Most of these companies are based in Norfolk and the surrounding areas, including Virginia Beach. There will be a vending area and a food truck area. Visitors will get the chance to try bacon dishes from the area’s top chefs and there will even be a bacon eating contest for those die-hard bacon fans. To assist those that may be bothered by the heat, there will be air conditioned tents on site.
