Nashville: A Great Sideshow

by Roberta Schlicher June 2013
As fate would have it, I started watching the popular, new series on ABC, Nashville, while visiting the city for the first time with my daughter. As with many of our trips, blending what a fifty-something and a twenty-something want to do isn’t easy. Luckily, we had the tie that binds– the t.v. drama!
Neither of us are big country music fans, but the show piqued our interest and made going to the Grand Ole Opry a must do. Located on Opryland Drive a few miles from downtown Nashville, guests have the option of seeing a live show in the balcony every Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. for as little as $25, double that and you can watch the show from the mezzanine. The shows feature eight or more artists and can include Opry members such as Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton as well as undiscovered artists.
