Hipsi: The New Belt For Golf
February 2013

Tired of clunky belt buckles that poke holes in your golf shirt or make an unfashionable bulge? Looking for a comfortable belt that moves with your swing? Hipsi, a newly designed belt for active women, might be your answer.
Hipsi was designed by Ali Harber and Amy Sirich, former corporate executives, who needed a sports belt that works with today’s fashions. The belts are completely flat and fully adjustable, allowing them to be worn snugly with jeans or pants whether high or low-cut. Hipsi belts also feature a buckle with 20 interchangeable looks from leather to leopard print to logoed. Since the belt is adjustable from the inside, you can avoid the bulky belt flap and consequently, your pants fit without gapping and your shirts lay flatter.
Although not originally designed for golfers, a client who is an avid golfer insisted that Ali share her belts with proshops at various locations along the West Coast. The client’s crystal ball was on target, as after just a few shorts months, orders were flowing in not only from the West Coast, but also from proshops all over the United States.
Our testers agreed that the belt design would eliminate the “belt bulge” and found it to be less constricting than a traditional belt. The testers also liked the idea of the interchangeable buckle and the option to customize it with any logo of their choice. Concerns from our testers included challenges latching the buckle to the clasp and not considering the belt as fashionable as the company claims. Testers felt that the belt’s function outweighed its fashion quotient. However, everyone agreed if wearing the hipsi equates with a lower score, it will be their new go-to accessory.
